Vossa and Prayer
The quintessential of trait of Mami Dan Yewevodou is Vossa and prayer. Between these two sacraments exists all vodou and without them there is none. While the hounnan performs vo on behalf of the supplicant anyone can pray and do so anywhere.
Spirit Baths
Our traditions have impacted all others. Even the sacrament of Baptism and the connection between Cleanliness and Godliness are memories of the ancient sacrament of Ashalele, the Spirit Bath. There are many kinds of spirit baths; baths that heal, baths that purify, baths that bring love, baths that bring fortune, baths that bring wealth, and baths that awaken the power within a person. Temple Mami Dan Densu of Alaska knows them all.
Takpekpe
Sunday afternoons we set aside some time to teach people the basics of Vodou and allow members of the community to come together, strengthen ties with each other and discuss things that matter.
Youth
Rites of Passage mark the entrance from infancy to personhood, the transition from neutered toddler to gendered child, and from childhood into adulthood. Each rite is accompanied by an education, wisdom appropriate to the destiny and identity of the child. This ancient wisdom ensures the youngster understands their place in the community, the entitlements that place commands and the obligations that come with them.
SIMPLE WAY TO BE IN VODOU.
One of the biggest question people use to ask is How to be in vodou ? How to be a vodou worshipper ? Do we need to have our shrine before ? Do we need to be initiated before?
I give you here a simple answer to this question in 3 steps.
# Step one : Know your vodous.
The first step in vodou is to know your vodous. As i always say it everybody is born with vodous. We call them head vodous. They do so many things in our lives. And it's very bad to live without giving them a particular interest . We need to do divination to find them . Through the special divination the gods will reveal their selves. Our relationship with them determine our lives. If it's bad then our lives are bad with many bad things. If it's good then our lives are good with good luck in love , finance, health etc....
# Step two : Respect the rules.
According to the vodous we are born with, we have some rules we must respect . Respecting those rules bring harmony between you and your vodous. There are some things you may avoid eating or doing. And there are other things you may do. The rules guide us. Respecting the rules link us to the vodous. It makes the vodous come near us. And they hear our prayers faster.
# Step three : Regular sacrifices.
Everybody must sacrifice regularly to his vodous. It can be once, twice , thrice or even more per year. Sacrifices are a way of giving thanks to our vodous and ask them to do more. Our vodous need to eat. According to what our vodous do for us or what we want them to do we sacrifice for them. It can be sweets, biscuits , fruits , eggs, drinks , alcohol or animals.
Everybody who follow this steps is in vodou and have a particular link with vodous. You don't need to have a shrine before worship vodou. You don't need to be initated before worship vodou. Initiation can be asked by the vodous or everybody who wants to know more or who wants to help others can be initiated. But if you just follow this steps you will have the 100% protection from the vodous. They will bless your life. They will provide you all you need. You just ask them through regular prayer everyday. If there is any news for you or if some bad thing will happen to you they will show you in dreams or they will talk to your godmother or godfather. Very simple. May the gods be with you
Greater Community service
It's not enough for us to look after our own. We've done service with Kids Kitchen, Alaska Workers Association, as well as own food and clothing charity, Rivers of Wealth to aid Anchorage's hungry, naked and cold. In addition we are partnered with Etruscan Revitalist Ministries, Oni Ilu Drum Circle, and JBER Chaplain's Office.
