Is Adela or Togbɛ Mɔglɔ Nimrod?

No. Or more exactly They are not Nimrod but Nimrod is a conflation and smear job of Adela and Togbɛ Mɔglɔ.

Adela is the Gbe vodou of the Hunt. He brings meat and medicine from the Bush, or the lands beyond civilization.

Togbɛ Mɔglɔ is a Gbe ancestor who has become a vodou. He was a prince that became king above his older siblings by consulting God and Their spirits to subdue a great beast that was terrorizing the kingdom.

The story of Nimrod conflates the vodou and ancestor, then vilify them as enemies of a God. In the story, God is afraid of Nimrod and his forces and must be protected from him by Shem and Esau.

Some biblical apologists will tell you that Adela and/or Togbɛ Mɔglɔ are really Nimrod and that his mother and/or wife is Whore of Babylon. This allows them to smear Adela, Togbɛ Mɔglɔ, and the feminine Mami all at once and encourage us to turn away from the covenants God made with our ancestors.

The biblical villain Nimrod is neither the vodou Adela nor the Togbɛ Mɔglɔ just as their wives are not the Whore of Babylon. However, the biblical account is indeed a corruption of the story of our ancestor Togbɛ Mɔglɔ and the vodous that walked with Him, Adela and Age.
