Kɔ Aha Ɖí: Libations

At a minimum, once a day, a person should pour water and gin or other strong drink on the clean earth to thank God for a world of possibilities, your Ancestors for giving you the opportunity to live in that world, and your vodous for giving you the tools to be successful in it.

Even under the worst circumstance this should be done and especially in the best of times. Why, because in the worst moments we need these three, God, our Ancestors, and our vodous, to get us through them and in our best of times to remember that we are just humans subject to fate and our mortal shortcomings. That we are always responsible for our kin and answerable to God no matter what our position in society may be.

With your libations you should always:

1. Thank God for creating the World and giving you a purpose within it

2. Thank your Ancestors for bringing you to the World

3. Thank the vodous for giving you the tools to achieve your purpose and do so with as much joy as can be had.
