Conservative Wing

- Ostensibly, this is the wing that should be most compatible with practitioners of Vodou. We are both concerned with tradition, society and norms. We are both concerned with God and the perception of God as the source of law and authority. We are both concerned with heritage and inheritance. These similarities are the exact reasons we cannot be a part of the Conservative wing.

In the US, Conservatives consider any Divinity not either identical to or inferior to their strict Protestant interpretation of the Judeo Christian God and Jesus to be antithetical, quite literally "Devil Worship". While the vodounsi have no problem at all in recognizing the divinity of Yahweh(alternately Jehovah) and Jesus, American Christianity cannot reciprocate and this ideal is married to their politics. Ultimately, they have historically politicized this hostility enacting laws to inhibit our practices as recently as 1993.

Additionally, they consider the country more "theirs" as a matter of inheritance. Lacking the guidance of MAMA TCHAMBA, US Conservatives consider any insistence on justice to be an unentitled over reach, even if they themselves are seeking the same thing. Ultimately, it is there opinion that they are the real Americans and everyone else live here at their sufferance.

Simply put, US Conservatives are hostile to us. They disagree with how we got to the same answers they have and want us to leave because of it.

Liberal Wing

-One would think that the Liberal Wing would be a better choice for vodousi because they allow us the space "to be". You'd be wrong. They would only allow Vodou if it could be sanitized, "normalized", and made passive to their agenda of freedom without responsibility. Liberals are hostile to vodounsi not because they don't like what we do, but because we won't let them do with it what they will. Vodou says "no", and we do so quite definitively and when this happens we are equated with everything they hate about the conservatives. And they would be right. While the lack of enumerated issues would suggest greater compatibility it has to be understood in context. Conservatives want us suppressed, converted or destroyed but Liberals want us hollowed out, chopped up, and consumed.

-Progressives are just enhanced Liberals and Libertarians are simply Conservatives lacking any sense of civic responsibility.

In the end, while we don't, we can't, be part of any political party or wing, we can't be uninvolved. It is not the way of ADELA to be at the mercy of His environment and it is unbecoming for us as well. To this end we must be the most vigilant of the electorate, supporting specific policies that benefit us, opposing those that don't and lending unconditional support to no one. They'll either work for us, or they'll achieve their ends without us, but we won't be complicit in our own undoing and we won't wait for good to happen to us. We will be Unaffiliated and actively involved.
